The Reanimator is a device that works similarly to an upright toaster which reincarnates a recently deceased person, with their memories intact, using genetic samplings such as scrapings of the inside of one's tennis shoes. Originally it could only work for Fry, then Bender was added, and later Leela. Ignar found it and played with its buttons until it broke. As the destruction of the Reanimator occurs at the end/beginning of the time loop, if the loop can be broken the Reanimator would not necessarily get destroyed.
